Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are consolidating a new task force to address the rising shift of transnational digital crime toward Indonesia.

Authorities have noted a migration of criminal syndicates following crackdowns in the Indochina region, specifically Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

"After being regulated in Indochina, a shift toward Indonesia began to occur, which we have anticipated and predicted," said Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, the Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia, on Saturday (9/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

He highlighted that these syndicates often engage in diverse online illegal activities, including love scams, investment fraud, and international online gambling.

NCB Interpol is also coordinating with the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs to monitor "subjects of interest" entering the country. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that Indonesia does not become a new base for global cybercrime syndicates, as recent enforcement actions in cities like Jakarta, Batam, and Surabaya indicate a growing regional threat.
