Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Peace Task Force has named nine members and sympathizers of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) as suspects in a series of violent attacks across Yahukimo, Papua Mountains, from 2022 to early 2026 after the initial arrest of 28 suspects.
"These nine suspects were involved in various cases of violence in Yahukimo, including arson and fatal shootings," said Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, the Task Force spokesperson, on Saturday (21/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Some of the suspects were linked to the burning of the Block B shopping complex in February 2026, SMP Metanoya junior high school building in January 2026, and vehicles belonging to local officials and the police.
Suspect Homi Heluka, alias Serius Kobak, is tied to multiple incidents, including the 2022 shooting of a Brimob officer and the 2025 killing of gold miners while suspect Enage Hiluka was identified in the viral CCTV footage of the stabbing of a betel nut vendor, Ester Karbeka, on 17 February 2026.
While no firearms were recovered during the arrests, investigators seized sharp weapons, Morning Star flags, mobile phones, spears, and arrows from six different locations. All nine suspects are currently detained at the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police Headquarters in Dekai for further legal proceedings.
