Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that Indonesia is negotiating to maintain its 0% tariff status for key commodities, despite the United States' recent move to impose a baseline 10% global tariff. 

He revealed on Saturday (21/2/2026) that the Indonesian government has engaged with the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to ensure that previously signed agreements are honored.

"We have signed the agreement, and Indonesia's request is clear: while a 10% tariff may apply to others, those products already granted 0% should remain at zero," Minister Airlangga from Washington D.C. as quoted by antaranews.com,. 

He noted that many agricultural products, such as coffee and cocoa, are protected under specific executive orders and were not affected by recent judicial or policy cancellations. Beyond agriculture, Jakarta is pushing for continued zero tariffs on critical supply chain components, including electronics, crude palm oil (CPO), textiles, and footwear.

A decision on these exemptions is expected within 60 days of the agreement's signing. In return, Indonesia maintains existing structures for US imports; for instance, US wheat currently enters Indonesia at 0%, while soybeans are taxed at 5%. These rates will remain stable until the full implementation of the Agreement on Reciprocal Tariff (ART) is finalized.
