Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Head of Operation of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, confirmed on Monday (14/4/2025) that no gunshot wounds were found on the bodies of 11 victims killed in the armed criminal group (KKB) attack in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
“All identified victims had injuries from sharp and traditional weapons such as arrows, not gunfire,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The victims, part of a deadly raid at a remote gold mining site, were identified by the police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team.
Search and rescue efforts, prioritizing survivors and remaining casualties, are ongoing with support from 500 joint military and police personnel and three aircraft—two operated by the Indonesian National Police (INP)—stationed in Dekai.
Chief Faizal noted the death toll could rise as the search continues, guided by testimonies from survivors.
