Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In response to rumors circulating about police intervention during a performance on 1 and 2 December 2023, the organizers of the play featuring artist Butet Kertaradjasa have clarified that there was no intimidation by the police.
Indah from the Secretariat of Kayan Production explained that she personally organized the licensing process with the police, and there was no intimidation during the signing of the permits.
“I want to convey that I was the one dealing with the paperwork for permits with the police. There was no intimidation during the signing of those documents,” she said on Tuesday (5/12/2023).
Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro, the Chief of the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Police, said that police presence is standard during cultural events at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM).
“Activities in Central Jakarta, whether cultural or otherwise, require us to ensure that they proceed safely,” he said
On the other hand, Chief Susatyo said that there was no interference from the police in terms of actors or the content of the event. Personnel deployed for security only coordinate with the event organizers regarding permits, work with security personnel, and manage traffic if necessary.
Deputy Chief of Intelligence and Security of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Superintendent Miko Indrayana explained that permits for events involving a large number of people must get police clearance in accordance with Government Regulation No. 60/2017.
" On 8 November 2023, PT Kayan submitted a request for a proposal for a public play to be held at Taman Ismail Marzuki on 1 and December," he said, adding that the police approved the permits on 13 November 2023.
