Inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho opened the pre-operation training for Operation Senpi Musi (Musi Firearms) 2026 at the South Sumatra Police headquarters on Thursday (11/6/2026).

The initiative prepares police officers to tackle the circulation of illegal firearms, which he described as a serious threat to public safety.

“Every illegal firearm circulating in society carries significant potential for crime and social conflict,” said Chief Sandi, adding that combating illegal weapons is not only law enforcement but also part of Polri’s duty to protect lives and ensure community security.

In 2025, South Sumatra Police uncovered 41 cases and seized 302 homemade firearms, underscoring the scale of the challenge. The 2026 operation aims to strengthen readiness, coordination, and professionalism in addressing the issue.

Chief Sandi urged personnel to act responsibly, humanely, and effectively, stressing integrity and discipline in operations. He highlighted South Sumatra’s high vulnerability to illegal firearms, requiring precise targeting and rapid response.

“Operation Senpi Musi 2026 is proof of the Indonesian Police’s presence to protect society from the threat of illegal firearms,” he said.
