inp.polri.go.id -  The North Bengkulu Police arrested RE (49) and his wife at a restaurant in the Padang Jaya area. The perpetrator was caught red-handed while extorting a former village head worth Rp250 million, Friday (14/10). "We arrested the suspect at the restaurant. From the suspect's hands, we confiscated the evidence of a cash of Rp20 million," said Deputy of North Bengkulu, Commissioner Chusnul Qomar, accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Teguh Ari Aji. AKP Teguh Ari Aji then revealed that the suspect threatened Morten Proshansen, the former Village Head, to report the alleged misuse of the Village Fund during his tenure. In order not to be reported to law enforcement officers, he asked the victim for Rp250 million. Previously, the suspect had received Rp10 million in cash. The police ambushed the suspect when he was about to receive Rp20 million for the second time. The police continue to investigate the case involving RE. The suspect's wife and children who were brought in during the extortion will testify before investigators.
