Inp.polri.go.id - Ternate. North Maluku Regional Police have initiated the construction of a public kitchen to support residents displaced by flooding in West Halmahera, authorities said on Tuesday (13/1/2026).

The kitchen was built at the Loloda Sub-district Head’s official residence in Soa-sio Village to ensure food supplies for evacuees from Totala Jaya Village currently sheltering at SD Inpres 27  elementary school in West Halmahera.

Head of Public Relations of the North Maluku Police Senior Superintendent Wahyu Istanto Bram said police officers led the rapid construction together with local residents and government officials.

“This public kitchen was established quickly to guarantee regular meals for evacuees during the emergency response period,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.

The initiative forms part of the police’s humanitarian response to flooding that struck the area earlier this week. Officers from Loloda Police Office were also overseeing food distribution and ensuring the facility operated effectively.
