North Maluku Regional Police Take Over the Illegal Gold Mining Case in Halmahera

inp.polri.go.id - Ternate. The North Maluku Regional Police have taken over the illegal gold mining (PETI) case in Roko Village, West Galela District, North Halmahera Regency. Previously, the case was handled by the North Halmahera Sub-regional Police.

A total of four illegal gold mining locations in Roko Village have been closed by the joint team from the North Maluku Regional Police.

"We have taken over the handling of an illegal gold mining case in North Halmahera," said the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the North Maluku Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Asri Effendy as quoted by RRI, Wednesday (6/11/2025).

Until now, he said, investigators are still continuing to investigate to uncover the parties involved in the illegal mining activities. He ensured that this case will be resolved professionally.

"We are committed to eradicating illegal mining practices that are considered to damage the environment and have the potential to cause social conflict in the community," he concluded
