inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairperson of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR), Esti Wijayati, said that the Constitutional Court's decision on the exemption of basic education fees must be regulated in the National Education System bill.
According to her, the Constitutional Court's decision to exempt private and public elementary and junior high schools is final and binding.
"In any case, the government must be able to carry out the mandate and decision of the Constitutional Court," Esti said, as reported by RRI, Wednesday (6/11/2025).
She said that the Constitutional Court's acts as a reminder for the state that it is obligatory to be present to facilitate the people's basic education. According to her, this is in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.
"We always voice and remind the government that the 1945 Constitution mandates the state to be present to provide decent education," she explained.
She then conveyed several things that need to be regulated related to this policy. Especially, related to budget readiness and technical provisions of derivative rules to implement the Constitutional Court's decision.
According to her, the Constitutional Court's decision does not only talk about free elementary and junior high schools, but there are other rules and decisions that follow.
