Inp.polri.go.id - Ternate. Villagers from Sibenpopo and Banemo in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, officially signed a peace declaration on Tuesday afternoon, marking a sincere collective commitment to terminate longstanding local disputes.

"This agreement serves as a vital foundation for maintaining regional stability and reinforcing communal bonds among residents," said Senior Superintendent Wahyu Istanto Bram, the Head of Public Relations for the North Maluku Regional Police, on Wednesday.  (8/4/2026) as reported by antaranews.com

The ceremony, witnessed by North Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Waris Agono along with military and local administrations officials, centered on the "Fagogoru" cultural values that bind the neighboring communities as kin.

Under the accord, both villages have pledged to reject outside provocation and resolve all future grievances through deliberation involving customary and religious leaders.
