Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit of North Sumatra Regional Police has deployed drones to map the aftermath of a landslide in Sembahe village, Sibolangit district, Deli Serdang regency.
“This technology helps identify stable hill areas and zones prone to further landslides, aiding in the prevention of secondary disasters,” said Brimob Commander Senior Superintendent Rantau Isnur Eka on Friday (29/11/2024).
The drones are part of a modern, integrated approach to disaster management, enhancing evacuation strategies. Brimob and the search and rescue teams worked together to locate missing victims and ensure the safety of rescue personnel.
“Collaboration and teamwork are key to ensuring a smooth and effective evacuation process,” Chief Rantau added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The landslide has claimed nine lives, according to Medan City Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Gidion Arif Setyawan, as rescue teams continue searching for additional victims.
