Inp.polri.go.id – Central Java. Currently Police is stil trying to extinguish the wildfire on slopes of Mount Merbabu National Park. The effort is supported by water bombing following difficulties in reaching the location by land. “For the fire boming in Merbabu today, we have deployed our water bombing unit. This step have been coordinated with National Agency for Disaster Countermeasures (BNPB), Military Regional Command, and Sub-regional Police, along with fire fighters,” says Central Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi on Sunday (10/29/2023). The wildfire in Merbabu Mountain slopes is keep spreading until Saturday (10/29/2023) night since it began on Friday (10/27/2023) from the first two fire locations in Sokowulu Village, Semarang. The fire has burned 400 hectares of land which spread across three regencies including Magelang, Boyolali, and Semarang. From the incident, dozens of people in Getasan Regency are evacuated to more secure places from the fire smoke of Merbabu Mountain slopes. (ad/my/pr/nm)
