inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bengkalis Sub-regional Police, Riau, arrested a fugitive in a 15-kilogram methamphetamine trafficking case, after being on the wanted list for nearly three years.
The Head of the Bengkalis Sub-regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Tidar Laksono, stated that the suspect, identified as A (48), was arrested at his residence in Sungai Alam Village, Bengkalis District, on Thursday (6/18/2026).
"This arrest is the result of the hard work and commitment of our personnel in resolving every drugs case, especially against perpetrators on the wanted list," Tidar stated on Tuesday (6/23/2026).
He explained that suspect A was a fugitive in a drug case based on a police report dated August 5, 2023.
The case began with the arrest of a drug courier with 15 large packages of methamphetamine weighing approximately 15 kilograms as evidence. Investigations and subsequent developments led police to discover suspect A's involvement.
"From the examination of the previously detained suspect, it was discovered that Suspect A acted as a communication facilitator, introducing and connecting the perpetrators in the drug trafficking network. Since then, he has been on the wanted list and is being pursued," explained Tidar.
For nearly three years, the authority has been continuously investigating, monitoring, and searching for the suspect. After detecting his hiding place, officers acted swiftly and successfully arrested him at his home without resistance.
During initial questioning, the suspect admitted to having served as a communication liaison between the perpetrators involved in the methamphetamine transaction. He also admitted to knowing two perpetrators who had previously been prosecuted in the case.
"Furthermore, urine tests showed the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine," noted Tidar.
The suspect is currently being held at the Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.
"Investigators are also continuing to investigate the possible involvement of other parties connected to the drug trafficking network," he concluded.
