In its implementation, the public is positioned as an active participant in ensuring road safety, not merely a target for law enforcement.

Head of the Public Information Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires the involvement of the police and all elements of society. Therefore, Operation Patuh serves as a momentum to raise awareness that compliance with traffic regulations is a necessity for protecting oneself and others.

"Operation Patuh 2026 is an effort to build collective awareness so that everyone understands the importance of complying with traffic regulations. Compliance is not only about fulfilling applicable regulations, but also a form of responsibility in maintaining the safety of oneself and other road users," Trunoyudo said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/27/2026).

According to him, the success of Operation Patuh is not only measured by law enforcement, but also by changes in public traffic behavior. Boosted compliance, reduced risky driving behavior, and the creation of safer traffic conditions are important indicators of the operation's success.

"What we want to create is a culture of orderly traffic that grows from public awareness. When everyone understands that traffic regulations are intended to protect everyone's safety, compliance will become part of their daily driving habits," he explained.

Trunoyudo added that an educational, persuasive, and humane approach needs to be prioritized so that the public understands the purpose of each traffic regulation. Meanwhile, law enforcement remains selective, professional, and proportional, especially for violations that have the potential to cause accidents or endanger other road users.
