Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Police have deployed 13,252 joint personnel to ensure security during International Workers’ Day (May Day) celebrations on Thursday.
“We’re deploying 13,252 joint personnel consisting of 9,591 police officers, 3,385 military personnel, and 276 from local administration agencies,” said Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto during a security preparation roll call at the Monument National (Monas) field on Tuesday (29/4/2025).
He emphasized that even minor disruptions in Jakarta could trigger national or international concern.
“Any security disturbance in Jakarta can have broad social, political, and economic impacts,” Chief Karyoto warned, as quoted by antaranews.com.
This year’s May Day activities will include a large-scale public celebration at Monas with around 200,000 participants, as well as protest rallies by groups with specific demands. Authorities anticipate complex challenges due to potential demonstrations spreading into neighboring provinces like Banten and West Java.
President Prabowo Subianto is expected to meet with labor union representatives during the May Day events, according to labor leader Said Iqbal.
