Papua Hosts International Anti-Corruption Day for East Indonesia

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Papua Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri attended the opening ceremony of Road to International Anti-Corruption Day at Istora Papua Bangkit, Jayapura, on Tuesday (11/14/2023). The ceremony is part of International Anti-Corruption Day Commemoration which will be held on December 9th, 2023 in Jakarta. This year’s theme of International Anti-Corruption Day is “Synergy in Eradicating Corruption for Advanced Indonesia”, which will invite all parties to jointly fight against corruption for the prosperity of the state. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Deputy of Coordination and Supervisor Regional V KPK, Budi Waluya, says that the event includes various pre-event activities such as radio talkshow, Fun Walk, Borong Pasar, dissemination, and media discussion. There is also a competition called “Anti-Corruption Mob” which invites the young talented Papuans to participate. “Corruption is a huge criminal action which not only affect a huge loss for state funds, but also damaged the cultures and values of the country. Therefore, in eradicating corruption, it is required cooperation in all levels, including pre-emptive, preventive, to repressive measures with educational, preventive, and law enforcement approach,” Budi said. The peak of the event of Road to International Anti-Corruption day in Jayapura will be held for two days from November 14th to 15th, 2023. The event will also have seminars which discussing cooperation and innovation in improving Regional Income, to APIP and APH cooperation in eradicating corruption. There will also a workshop with the theme of Accelerating Personnel, Fund, Equipment and Documents, and a workshop in accelerating spatial planning preparation in autonomous regions. Moreover, there will be a workshop of Corruption Prevention in Business Sector. To give its best appreciation, the event will also award those who supports the effort in eradicating corruption crimes. Budi also conveys that the event will invite wider community, including the entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, religious leaders and community leaders. The Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun in his opening remarks welcomes the key officials of KPK and thanked them for commemorating International Anti-Corruption Day for East Indonesia in Papua. Ridwan asked all parties to unite in war against corruption which not only causing damage to the state and regions, but also damaged moral state and creating inequality. “The Papua Provincial Government along with City/Regency Regional Government, Law Enforcement, State-Owned Enterprises and Regional-Owned Enterprises, as well as the community and all stakeholders, particularly in Papua, fully supports the prevention and the eradication of corruption by continuously collaborating for a better, independent Papua that is prosperous and just,” says Ridwan.
