Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police deployed 347 officers to execute Operation Patuh 2026, running from 26 October 2026 to 8 November 2026, aimed at lowering traffic accident rates and fatalities across the region during an RRI Jayapura broadcast on Thursday (29/10/2026).
"Operation Patuh prioritizes preventive steps through education and public appeal. However, law enforcement remains active against violations that risk serious accidents," said Acting Sub-Directorate Head of Traffic Safety and Order Assistant Senior Inspector Novilus Yoku.
He noted that the 14-day operation serves as a precursor to Operation Lilin ahead of Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 celebrations. The enforcement targets eight primary violations, including unhelmeted riding, drunk driving, counter-flow driving, over-capacity passengers, and seatbelt neglect, alongside coordinated inspections with the Transportation Agency regarding overloaded and over-dimension trucks.
