Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The West Sumatra Regional Police prioritized public traffic safety education over punitive sanctions throughout Operation Patuh 2026 across West Sumatra on Friday (30/10/2026).
"Since the first day of the operation until now, our main priority remains educating the public rather than issuing penalties," said West Sumatra Regional Police Traffic Director Senior Superintendent Kukuh Priyo Taruno.
He said that data from the fourth day of the operation reflects this policy, with officers issuing 1,376 warnings compared to only 226 traffic citations. Police officers distributed educational leaflets, stickers, and brochures while directly targeting students, online motorcycle taxi drivers, couriers, transport operators, and logistics drivers to build long-term traffic discipline.
