Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin said on Sunday (13/4/2025) that three aircraft, including a helicopter, were deployed to support the search for victims of a recent armed criminal group (KKB) attack in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
“This is a humanitarian operation to locate both survivors and deceased victims,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com
Search efforts focus on remote areas, as victims are believed to be scattered across multiple sites. As of Sunday, 10 bodies had been recovered.
Chief Renwarin said it was unclear how long the operation would last.
Separately, the body of one gold miner, who was killed in Kawe, Bintang mountsins,has been flown to Tanah Merah, South Papua, for further handling.
The bodies from Yahukimo were being identified at RSUD Dekai Regional Hospital.
