Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Traffic Directorate of the Papua Regional Police launched Operation Patuh Cartenz 2026, running for 14 days from 26 October 2026 to 8 November 2026.
To enhance driver discipline and reduce road accident risks across the Papua region, law enforcement has designated eight primary traffic violations as key targets for the operation.
According to official announcements from the Papua Police Traffic Directorate on Monday (26/10/2026), the top priority target includes drivers operating mobile phones while driving, an activity that severely impairs concentration and elevates crash risks.
The second and third target categories focus on underage drivers who do not meet legal licensing requirements, as well as motorcycle riders carrying more than one passenger.
Police are also enforcing strict compliance regarding protective gear, targeting motorcycle riders without Indonesian National Standard (SNI) helmets and automobile drivers failing to wear seatbelts. Furthermore, officers are prioritizing crackdowns on driving under the influence of alcohol, driving against traffic flow, and exceeding speed limits.
The final targeted categories focus on heavy vehicles violating dimensions and weight limits, known as Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL), and vehicles fitted with non-standard exhausts (knalpot brong).
The Papua Police urged all motorists to comply with traffic laws, carry complete vehicle documentation, use proper safety equipment, and respect speed limits to ensure a safe, orderly, and comfortable driving environment across the province.
