Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta, The government will continue its focus on accelerating public welfare development in Papua in 2025, according to Theofransus Litaay, an expert from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP).

“The welfare program for Papua has been prepared for 2025 and is a priority for President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” he said on Monday (9/9/2024).

A key aspect of the 2025 plan is a national nutritious meal program, which will receive a budget of Rp 71 trillion (around US$4.5 billion). The National Nutrition Agency will manage this initiative, providing meals to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and students at all levels.

Jayapura has already tried the program with support from UNICEF, showing positive results in preventing malnutrition and stunting in vulnerable groups.

The program will also offer free health checks to detect risks such as high blood sugar and other diseases. Hospitals will be built to improve healthcare access across Papua. School renovations and better sanitation facilities are also planned.
