inp.polri.go.id - Pontianak. The West Kalimantan Regional Police's Search and Rescue (SAR) team conducted patrols, wetting, and cooling operations in areas prone to forest and land fires in Kubu Raya Regency.
"The activity was carried out on Jalan Ayani 3, Limbung Village, Sungai Raya District, to ensure there were no hotspots that could potentially flare up again. Personnel combed areas that were previously at risk of burning, while also monitoring the surrounding environment to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas," explained the Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Bambang Suharyono, on Tuesday (8/25/2026).
During the patrol, officers discovered areas with remaining embers, so they immediately began extinguishing, wetting, and cooling operations to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
These steps were taken as part of preventative measures to prevent embers from reigniting and triggering larger fires.
Bambang Suharyono added that preventing forest and land fires requires the concern and cooperation of all parties, especially people living in fire-prone areas.
"We urge the public to work together to protect the environment and immediately report any hotspots or signs of fire," he added, as reported by kalbar.antaranews.
He also asked the public to refrain from activities that could potentially trigger fires, especially during dry weather conditions, which can increase the risk of forest and land fires.
Public reports are crucial for expediting response to detected hotspots, so that fires can be controlled quickly before they spread.
"The public can contact the nearest police station or the West Kalimantan Regional Police Call Center 110 for immediate follow-up by officers," said Bambang.
The West Kalimantan Regional Police, along with relevant agencies, will continue to increase patrols and preparedness in vulnerable areas as part of efforts to reduce the risk of forest and land fires and protect the environment and residential areas.
