Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Pekalongan City Sub-regional Police launched a forensic investigation in Central Java on Saturday (21/3/2026) after a powerful firecracker explosion in Noyontaansari Village injured nine people and caused significant structural damage to surrounding residential properties.
"We have conducted crime scene processing, examined witnesses, and are currently coordinating with the Central Java Regional Police," said Pekalongan City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Setiyanto, as cited by antaranews.com.
The blast occurred while several teenagers were reportedly assembling large-scale firecrackers using hammers and screwdrivers inside a building. Forensic teams seized evidence including cardboard casings and explosive powder, while witnesses reported that the deafening sound shattered windows and destroyed roof tiles of neighboring houses within a three-meter radius.
Victims suffering from various degrees of burns were evacuated to Bendan Hospital and Siti Khodijah Hospital for intensive medical treatment. Preliminary findings suggest the explosive materials were purchased online, prompting police to issue a stern warning against the illegal manufacturing of high-intensity pyrotechnics during the festive season.
