Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) assess that majority of people are vulnerable to Black Campaign and hoaxes in 2024 General Elections. The stern statement from Bawaslu highlights the issues of candidates involved in gambling promotion cases. “Very vulnerable to Black Campaigns. People are encouraged to reconfirm the truth of the news because of the dangers of hoaxes,” said Bawaslu Commissioner Lolly Suhenty in her official statement on Monday (10/2/2023). She implores public to be able in filtering the information during 2024 elections. She stressed not to let any ‘gray’ news trapped the public in hoax news. “This has come to our attention and it requires quick act from security officials,” says Bawaslu Commissioner. Regarding the candidates involved in gambling promotion cases, she suggests the public to wait for the official statement from the police. If proven not guilty, the names of the candidates should be restored after being allegedly involved in online gambling promotion. “We will have to wait for the result. If they are proven guilty, public knows what to do, and if not, together we should restore their names. More or less, that is how it goes. Well, in politics we have to be careful with information that can’t be confirmed whether it’s true or not,” she says in conclusion. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
