inp.polri.go.id - North Kalimantan. The North Kalimantan Regional Police are strengthening their personnel's capacity to address the psychological impact on communities affected by disasters.
Through the Human Resources Bureau, the North Kalimantan Regional Police are holding Trauma Healing Training for personnel in the 2026 Fiscal Year.
This training focuses on personnel's ability to provide initial psychological support to disaster victims.
The material was presented by two psychologists from the Indonesian Psychological Association (HIMPSI), Maslichah Raichatul Janah and Ninda Wulan Winansih, in collaboration with the Psychology Division of the North Kalimantan Regional Police.
Head Bureau of HR of the North Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Steyven Jonly Manopo, emphasized that disaster victim management should not stop at evacuation, security, or physical assistance.
Police personnel are also required to be able to assess the psychological conditions of the community and provide appropriate support.
"Natural disasters not only cause physical damage and material losses, but can also have a psychological impact on the affected. Therefore, police must be able to provide a sense of security, calm, and psychological support to the community," said Steyven Wednesday (9/23/2026).
He asked all participants to take the training seriously so that these skills can be truly applied when dealing with the community in crisis situations.
"I hope the participants will take the training seriously and take advantage of this opportunity to gain knowledge, especially how to communicate with disaster victims, recognize post-disaster psychological responses, and provide initial support to victims," he emphasized.
Through this training, the North Kalimantan Regional Police aims to ensure that personnel are more prepared to provide services that are not only fast and professional, but also soft and empathetic when the community faces disasters.
The ability to provide psychological support is an essential part of police's service and protection.
