inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) moved quickly to address the impact of the flash floods and landslides that struck several areas in Solok Regency, West Sumatra. Together with relevant agencies and the community, Polri deployed personnel to clear road access, clear mud, search for missing residents, and provide psychological support to affected residents.
Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Information at INP Public Relations Division, stated that disaster management requires the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in the field due to the diverse conditions and needs of the affected communities.
"We are moving quickly with relevant agencies and the community to address the impact of the flash floods and landslides in Solok Regency. This type of response cannot be done alone, so all agencies must work together according to their respective duties and roles, including clearing access, assisting in the search for missing people, clearing debris, and providing support to the community," said Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (9/24/2026).
The initial response was carried out after a landslide struck the Solok Regency Government Office Complex and several areas in Kayu Aro, Arosuka, Gunung Talang District, on Monday evening (9/21/2026). The West Sumatra Regional Police had immediately deployed their personnel, and coordinated with relevant agencies and the local community to address the impact of the disaster.
Approximately 300 personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit and one company of personnel from the Directorate of Public Order were deployed that night to help open the main Solok-Padang route, which had been blocked by landslide material. The personnel, along with the community and relevant agencies, worked together to clear the mud and rock deposits using manual tools, tactical vehicles, and water pumps.
West Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abadhy also visited the location to assess the condition of the affected communities and infrastructure and ensure the handling process was underway. The cleanup was carried out in stages to ensure that transportation access could be restored and not hinder public mobility, aid distribution, or the evacuation process.
In addition to opening access, police personnel and the joint SAR team also conducted a survey of affected homes and residents and assisted in the search for those still missing.
On Wednesday (9/23/2026), the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Corps SAR Team expanded their search efforts at several search points, along with related SAR units, expanding the search radius based on predetermined sectors.
Meanwhile, West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Corps personnel also continued to assist residents in clearing the remaining mud that had inundated residential areas. Using shovels and wheelbarrows, personnel and residents removed the accumulated mud from yards and around homes so that the area could be used again for community activities.
"Management not only concerns the physical aspects, but also the conditions of the affected communities. Therefore, the National Police, along with relevant units, continue to adapt their actions on the ground to the needs of the community, including in the evacuation process, search and rescue, cleanup, and disaster impact data collection," said Trunoyudo.
