Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar.  Bali Regional Police are investigating an international drug syndicate involving a 42-year-old Peruvian citizen, who was caught smuggling cocaine and ecstasy from Spain into Indonesia.

“Bali Police Narcotics Directorate is tracing the network of a suspect identified as PB and his links in Bali to uncover this international narcotics trafficking ring,” said Bali Police Narcotics Chief Senior Superintendent Radiant at a press conference on Tuesday (19/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Authorities revealed that the Peruvian suspect, identified as NSBC, was recruited by suspect PB through the dark web in April this year and was promised Rp 320 million (around USD 20,000) to deliver 1.4 kilograms of cocaine and 85 ecstasy pills from Barcelona to Bali. 

Customs and police arrested NSBC upon arrival at I Ngurah Rai International Airport on 12 August 2025 after concealing the drugs inside underwear and a sex toy.

Investigators believe the cocaine was intended for foreign residents in Bali, raising concerns over the island’s role as a market for international drug cartels.
