Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The  Financial Services Authority (OJK) stressed that scam victims must act within the first 12 hours to have a realistic chance of recovering their stolen funds.

“The first 12 hours are actually critical time. Beyond that, it becomes much harder to trace and block the money effectively,” said OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar on Tuesday (19/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

He explained that fraudsters often move stolen funds rapidly across multiple bank accounts and non-bank platforms such as e-commerce, e-wallets, and cryptocurrencies. The longer victims delay reporting to the Indonesia Anti Scam Centre (IASC), the slimmer the chances of recovery.

Since its launch in November 2024, IASC has logged more than 225,000 scam reports, involving Rp 4.6 trillion (around USD 280 million) in losses. Of this, Rp349.3 billion has been blocked or secured, with over 72,000 accounts frozen.

Officials urged victims to report immediately to maximize the possibility of retrieving funds and assisting law enforcement.
