inp.polri.go.id -  A commercial plane crashes into Lake Victoria in Tanzania, killing 19 people on Sunday (11/6). Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the ill-fated plane was carrying 43 passengers of which 26 survived. The aircraft that crashed was ATR 42-500 flight PW 494 operated by Precision Air. "So far it is not clear whether the 19 victims included members of the rescue team that sank or whether the 48-seater plane was carrying more people," he said. Authorities said they were investigating the possibility of the two people that were not on board but died in the rescue attempt. Precision Air, a public company which is the largest private airline in Tanzania released their statement regarding this incident. "An investigation team consisting of Precision Air technical staff and TAA (Tanzania Airports Authority) has also departed to join the rescue team on the ground," the airline said in an official statement quoted by CNNIndonesia.com. According to video footage shown by local media, most of the plane bodies sank, as rescuers, including fishermen, rushed to save the passengers. "Condolences to those affected by the incident. Let's remain calm while rescue operations continue while praying to God to help us," said Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hasan.
