inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Finance Ministry thwarted the smuggling of 113.65 kilogram marijuana from Thailand. The weed was planned to be delivered to Liverpool, England.
The Deputy of BNN Eradication, I Wayan Sugiri explains that the operation began when the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Custom officials suspected a package from Thailand. The officials then immediately reported the findings to BNN.
“The smuggling was committed by AS and MM, and now they have been arrested. The illicit goods were sent by BN from Thailand who is now still on the run,” said Deputy Sugiri on Monday (8/5/2024).
The two illicit goods were found at two places, first in the Jaka Permai Housing complex in Bekasi with 60 marijuana packages weighing a total of 31.88 kg.
The second location was in Cipinang Melayu, East Jakarta. There, the police found 154 marijuana packages with a total weight of 81.77 kg.
For their crimes, AS and MM will be charged with Article 114 paragraph (2), Article 132 paragraph (1), Article 113 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
