inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Metro Jaya Regional Police urges all public and parents to beware with the child abduction method of fake distress call saying that their parents were involved in accidents.

“This is a child abduction method and needs to be anticipated. They targeted elementary school students. We need to make the parents and the children aware of this new method to prevent them from falling to this scam,” said Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi on Sunday (8/4/2024).

Ade also advised the students who received the fake calls to first confirm the news to their parents first.

Moreover, the abductor will do everything to ensure that their target believes their lies and follows the abductor.

“We have to be careful as criminal methods continue to develop. They will try to convince their target and make them believe with their lies,” warned Ade.

Previously, a student of 101 Jakarta Junior High School was abducted on July 25th. The incident began when the abductor scanned their targets in the morning. Afterwards, the abductor came to the school and asked the security guard to call the student to convey their lies.

After the student came, the abductor told her that her mother was involved in a traffic accident after taking her to the school and asked her to follow the abductor.

Without hesitation, the student followed the abductor. Unfortunately, in the middle of the road, instead of taking the student to her mother, the abductor robbed the student and attacked her.

Following the incident, on August 1st, 2024, police then successfully arrested the suspect without any resistance.
