The Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Taufik Nurmandia, stated in Jambi on Monday that his department is intensifying public awareness campaigns against burning.

He emphasized that forest and land fires have widespread impacts, ranging from environmental damage to economic and social losses.

The Jambi Regional Police's appeal stated that the impact of karhutla is so widespread that prevention is crucial.

The goal is to protect forests and the environment, safeguard public health from the dangers of smoke, prevent economic and social losses, and preserve the habitat of flora and fauna.

Taufik Nurmandia, also reminded the public that burning forests and land is dangerous and illegal, therefore, he urged the public to actively participate in preventing forest and land fires this year.

He urged the public to work together to prevent forest and land fires by taking three steps: refraining from clearing land by burning, reporting hotspots or fires to the authorities, and educating families and communities about the dangers of forest and land fires by saying, "Stop Burning Forests and Land."

"Furthermore, by preventing forest and land fires, we are all protecting nature and safeguarding the future," said Taufik.

Currently, the Jambi Province Forest and Land Fire Handling Task Force continues to patrol and monitor fire-prone areas to prevent the spread of hotspots during the dry season.

Collaboration between all stakeholders is crucial to ensure a swift and appropriate response to every incident.

"We also urge the public not to clear land by burning and to immediately report any indications of fire so that they can be addressed promptly," he concluded.
