inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Surabaya Sub-regional City Police have named two women with the initials P alias I and S alias L as suspects in a case of alleged human trafficking (TPPO) in a house on Kedung Anyar street, Sawahan Village, Sawahan District, Surabaya City.
Surabaya Sub-regional Police Public Relations Head, Police Senior Inspector Rina Shanty Dewi Nainggolan said the suspect status determination was made after a raid was carried out by police officers on Saturday (5/31/2025), at a location suspected of being a shelter for a number of prospective migrant workers.
"Two people have been detained, with the initials P alias I and S, alias L," said Rina, in a statement in Surabaya, Monday (6/2/2025) as quoted from Antaranews.
In the raid, she said, officers initially secured three suspected perpetrators, however, after an examination, only two were named as suspects.
Another person, she continued, with the initials IZ, was not detained because it was known that he only acted as a house guard.
Rina added that the perpetrators were suspected of wanting to send the victims to Malaysia, but for detailed information the police are still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sawahan Sector Police, Police Senior Inspector Agus Tri Subagjo, said that the alleged TPPO case was revealed after his party received information from the Command Center regarding an alleged confinement in a house at Kedung Anyar street, Surabaya.
One of the victims, Agus continued, had contacted a private radio station, which then forwarded the information to the Command Center 112 and the Sawahan Sector Police.
In addition to the two female victims, officers also found two men, S and MF, who were suspected of having been held captive in the house for more than two days.
"We immediately secured the victims and took them to the Police for questioning," he said.
