The police have finally arrested two members of the North Side Warrior gang who assaulted a married couple in the Warakas area of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, last Saturday (26/8/23). Meanwhile, six other suspects remain at large. Police Superintendent Iverson Manossoh, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at North Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-Regional Police, revealed that the breakthrough in the case came from a widely circulated video on social media. This footage captured the suspects brutally assaulting the victims, leading to severe injuries. "At that moment, the victim were riding a motorcycle with his wife when they were ambushed and stopped by the suspects," he added. Though both victims managed to survive, they required immediate medical attention for their injuries. In total, eight suspects were involved in the robbery. "Two individuals have been arrested, while the other six are on the wanted list. They are currently being pursued by the Operational Officer of the Criminal Investigation Unit," he stated. During the arrest, the police confiscated three sharp weapons and a long-barreled airsoft gun, commonly employed by this group in their criminal activities. (ar/my/pr/nm)
