Inp.polri.go.id - Nabire. The Central Papua Regional Police announced on Wednesday (15/4/2026) a one-month assessment period for additional security personnel deployed to Dogiyai Regency following a series of violent communal clashes.
The evaluation, conducted weekly in Nabire, aims to stabilize the region after the fatal shooting of a police officer on 31 March 2026 triggered widespread unrest and road blockades. Indonesian National Police (INP) Headquarters has dispatched 148 specialized officers, including Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and criminal investigators, to reinforce local precincts and prevent a resurgence of conflict.
"We expect this troop addition to guarantee long-term security, ensuring that disturbances do not resurface once the situation appears calm," said Central Papua Police Deputy Chief, Senior Superintendent Gustav R. Urbinas.
Authorities cleared all illegal roadblocks by early April, restoring vital logistics and fuel distribution routes between Dogiyai and Enarotali. The regional police are currently coordinating with local government leaders to transition from emergency response to a comprehensive, community-focused security strategy. While patrols have intensified under a regional reinforcement system, investigators continue to process multiple reports linked to the initial violence to ensure legal accountability for all parties involved.
