Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have determined that a TransJakarta bus driver falling asleep at the wheel caused a head-on collision on Corridor 13a serving Puri Beta-Petukangan route on Monday (23/2/2026).
The accident occurred at the Swadarma section toward Cipulir area when a bus operated by Bianglala, driven by a driver identified as Y, veered into the oncoming lane and struck a Mayasari Bhakti bus.
"The driver admitted to falling asleep while driving, causing the vehicle to enter the opposite lane and result in a head-on crash," said Superintendent Ojo Ruslani, the Head of Law Enforcement at the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, as cited by antaranews.com
The collision injured 24 passengers from the oncoming bus, while the offending vehicle was reportedly empty. Victims were rushed to Sari Asih Ciledug and Bakti Mulya Slipi hospitals, with two individuals treated for bone fractures.
Traffic authorities have evacuated both damaged units and are conducting a thorough scene investigation to assess the operators' adherence to safety protocols and driver shift regulations.
