Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Police deployed 511 joint personnel to secure demonstrations taking place on Jalan South Medan Merdeka street, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

The security operation, involving officers from Metro Jaya Regional Police and Central Jakarta Sub-regional Police, began with a briefing at 9 am at the West Merdeka Police Post. The protests were organized by the Nusantara Youth Movement alongside several community elements.

"The deployment of hundreds of officers aims to anticipate all possibilities during the demonstration," Central Jakarta Police Public Relations Officer First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri said.

Traffic diversions are being applied situationally based on crowd density. Authorities urged motorists traveling between South, North, East, and West Jakarta to avoid  West Medan Merdeka, South Medan Merdeka Selatan, and Thamrin streets by taking alternative routes via Tomang, Suryopranoto, HR Rasuna Said, or Gunung Sahari to prevent severe congestion.
