Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Indonesian National Police (INP) responded to a major fire at the military complex on Jalan Sukun, Numbay Subdistrict, South Jayapura, on Monday morning (6/10/2025).
Jayapura City Sub-regional Police Operations Chief Senior Inspector Ferdinand E. Numbery said that officers were alerted to the blaze via radio communication and immediately dispatched an armoured water cannon (AWC) vehicle to the scene.
Additional reinforcements from the Papua Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and the Directorate of Samapta also deployed one AWC each, joining city fire brigades with three fire trucks and eight water supply vehicles.
“Altogether, three police AWC units and three municipal fire engines worked together to control the blaze,” Chief Ferdinand said, as quoted by antaranews.com
After about 90 minutes of coordinated effort, the fire was fully extinguished. Initial assessments reported 22 houses destroyed, with material losses estimated at Rp 3.5 billion.
