inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has deployed thousands of security personnel to oversee today's demonstrations by community groups. According to reports to the police, the demonstrations will take place in the National Monument (Monas) and the House of Representatives (DPR/MPR) in Central Jakarta.
The first demonstration will be held by members of the Wahana Kalpika Cooperative in the South Silang area of Monas. Another demonstration will be held by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Indraprasta PGRI University, in front of the DPR/MPR building.
"We have deployed 1,289 joint personnel to support the demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area," explained Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, in a statement on Monday (1/19/2026).
He emphasized that security measures will be implemented with a soft and proper approach. He also urged demonstrators to convey their demands peacefully.
"We are here to serve the people who wish to express their aspirations," he said.
