Inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. Police deploys 200 personnel to secure Namblong District, Jayapura Regency, Papua, following a riot that broke out in the area. The hundreds of personnel consists of the Nusantara Mobile Brigade which are tasked to secure the area until the situation is under control.
Jayapura Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fredrickus W.A Maclarimboen says several people had to be evacuated during the incident.
“We hope that people who evacuated could return to their homes as the security situation has gradually returned to normal,” says the Sub-regional Police Chief quoted from Antara on Thursday (1/4/2024).
According to him, due to the riot on Monday January 1st, 2024, 928 people have to be evacuated to three different locations. As situations has gradually returned to normal, people are permitted to return to their homes.
“People, particularly those whose house has been burned down, were asked to return as personnel dispatched to the locations,” says Fredrickus.
