Police Details Prediction for Year-End Holiday Season Movement

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps predicts the number of people's movements during the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays. Head of the Traffic Corps, Inspector General Aan Suhanan and his party predicts that there will be an increase of 2.8% in people's movements compared to the previous year's.

According to him, the figure is from the results of a survey by the Ministry of Transportation's Transportation Policy Agency for the new year 2024-2025.

“In 2023 there are 107 millions people while in this year we predicts that there will be around 110 millions people, or 39.30 percent, will travel or move during the Christmas and New Year holidays," said Aan during a hearing session with Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Senayan Parliament Complex.

He explained that interprovincial movement is predicted to be 19.8%. While movement within the province reaches 19.46%.

"This movement has increased by 2.82 percent from the results of the 2023-2024 survey," he said.

He further explained the highest areas that will show the biggest movement are East Java, Central Java, Jabodetabek, West Java, and North Sumatra. Then, the highest destination areas during the holiday season are East Java, Central Java, West Java, DIY, and North Sumatra.

The highest choice of transportation mode, he said, is estimated to be private cars at 36.7%. For motorcycle users, it is predicted to reach 17.71%. Then, for bus users it reaches 15.04%. Finally, train users reach 12.8%.

"While planes are 8.85%," concluded Aan.
