inp.polri.go.id - West Kalimantan. The West Kalimantan Regional Police developed a melon cultivation program to support the government's efforts to strengthen national food security.

The activity, held on Friday (6/26/2026), utilized land available within the West Kalimantan Regional Police area to develop productive agricultural areas that provide benefits and economic value to the community.

The program was designed as a pilot project that will be gradually expanded to other police developments. Through this program, the West Kalimantan Regional Police hopes to encourage the use of vacant land as a productive food source and inspire communities to develop the agricultural sector in their respective areas.

The Head of Public Relations for the West Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Bambang Suharyono, explained that the melon cultivation is part of the police's commitment to supporting sustainable food security programs. 

He believes that optimal land use can be a solution to increase productivity while supporting food availability in the region.

"By utilizing land within the West Kalimantan Regional Police headquarters, we want to demonstrate that available land can be transformed into productive agricultural land. This melon cultivation is a first step, hopefully setting a positive example for the community in developing economically valuable agriculture," said Bambang.

He added that the program's success will be disseminated to all police ranks for implementation with the community through the role of Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Police Officers).
