Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Papua Regional Police has evacuated 50 miners assaulted by the Armed Criminal Group, along with the seven bodies found by the police. The evacuation was carried after Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri orders the evacuation and for investigation purpose. “We will also ask the statement of several victims to find out the numbers of perpetrate and better understand the chronology of the situation,” says the Police Chief in his written statement on Friday (10/20/2023). He emphasized that police will take firm action against all perpetrators involved in the assault. This firm action was to also guarantees the security of next year elections. “We are continuing our cooperation with local figures to implore people to always be careful and be vigilant. Regarding the perpetrators, we will take firm action to prevent similar incident,” says the Police Chief. During the evacuation process, security apparatus was faced with live or death threat from the criminal group as gunfights occurred. Fortunately, evacuation process was successful and all miners evacuated to safer place. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
