The Chief of Pegunungan Bintang Police Superintendent Mohamad Dafi Bastomi announced the successful evacuation of PT IBS employees in Okbab District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, which took place today (15/5/23). They were previously held captive by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) but were safely evacuated through the collaborative efforts of security forces, with support from the local government and the community.
"At around 09:30 WIT this morning, using PK-RBP aircraft, a joint team comprising the Deputy Regent, Assistant I of the Regional Secretariat, and representatives of community leaders, retrieved the four employees who had been located in Okbab District. The team arrived in Oksibil District at around 10:50 WIT," he said.
Two of the evacuated employees, Asmar and Feryan Erlangga, unfortunately sustained injuries from sharp objects but remained conscious. Another two employees, Peas Kulka and Senus Lepitalem, are currently in good condition.
"The four victims are currently undergoing further medical examination at Oksibil Regional Hospital. We will continue to monitor the security situation throughout the entire area of Pegunungan Bintang Regency to prevent the recurrence of such incidents," he concluded.
