In anticipation of the upcoming 'political year', the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (INP) has taken proactive measures to face various threats using advanced technology. These efforts include training programs conducted for all police personnel throughout INP Headquarters, aimed at equipping them with effective strategies and preparedness.
The Head of Public Relations Division of INP Inspector General Sandi Nugroho explained the importance of closely monitoring the current cyberspace landscape, not only due to the massive misinformation but also the prevalence of cybercrimes.
He also stressed the significance of effective communication and proficient public speaking skills as essential tools to combat the proliferation of misinformation within the virtual realm.
"In order to prevent conflicts that could disrupt the operations of organizations and institutions, a spokesperson must possess knowledge and understanding of crisis management," he said on Monday (15/5/23).
He further drew attention to the concerning threats posed by fake news and propaganda in the digital realm, predicting their escalation as the political year approaches.
"To ensure security and stability in the cyberspace, it is essential to employ comprehensive strategies encompassing issue and crisis comprehension, risk mitigation, formulation of issue management strategies, and effective crisis handling on social media platforms," he said.
