Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Pesanggrahan Police Office in South Jakarta have recovered a human skeleton believed to be that of Alvaro Kiano Nugroho, a 6-year-old boy who has been missing since March 2025.
The remains were found after an intensive search led by a joint police task force.
“Alvaro has been found in a deceased condition,” said Pesanggrahan Police Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Seala Syah Alam on Sunday (23/11/2025), adding that a suspect connected to the child’s disappearance has been detained for questioning.
South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Nicolas Ary Lilipaly separately confirmed that the remains are undergoing forensic and DNA testing to verify the identity.
“A skeleton, suspected to be Alvaro, has been recovered. DNA examination is required to ensure confirmation,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of death, citing an ongoing investigation. Earlier efforts to trace Alvaro were hindered by deleted CCTV footage near his home and a delay in the initial missing-person report. The boy was last seen on 6 March 2025, with his grandfather claiming he was taken by a man posing as his father.
Police are continuing to gather witness accounts and digital reports submitted by the public while awaiting forensic results.
