inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Riau Islands Regional Police conducted the first harvest of hydroponic vegetables at the Riau Island Regional Police’s HQ Green House. This activity demonstrates police's support for the national food security program, which will be implemented in stages and sustainably.

The harvest was led by the Riau Islands Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Safrudin, accompanied by Vice Chief Brigadier General Anom Wibowo, and attended by key Polda Riau officials. The 45x10 m² Green House facility is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant from Bank Indonesia.

Asep stated that this program is managed by personnel competent in agriculture, including non-commissioned officers with agricultural degrees, with assistance from agricultural practitioners.

"We are grateful that the harvest results are quite good. Plants like kale and lettuce are growing fresh and of high quality. Even the harvest period, which usually takes around 40 days, can be shortened to approximately 30 days," said the Riau Islands Police Chief on Monday (March 30, 2026).

He mentioned that the types of vegetables harvested included baby kale, red lettuce, lettuce, bok choy, and red chilies, with a total yield of 100 packs, or around 200 grams per pack. The harvest will be used to support the kitchen needs of the Riau Islands Police's Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

"Through this first harvest, we want to demonstrate that the police  not only maintain security but also make a real contribution to supporting food security. We hope this program will provide benefits and inspire continued innovation," said the Riau Islands Police Chief.
