Police Implore Public to be Aware with Hoax Post-Voting Day

Inp.polri.go.id – Central Java. Following the election voting day, the Central Java Regional Police implores public to be aware with hoax and misinformation. The Public Relations Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto said there are many hoax contents still circulating throughout election process. Satake implores the public to not easily swayed and receive the information without filtering, both from social media or forwarded messages. In his statement, the PR Chief urged the public to check, recheck, and crosscheck the information they received before they intent to share it to others. “Around this time, there are many hoax contents that we have to be aware. People are implored to not be easily provoked by news with suspicious source,” said Satake Bayu quoted from Suaramerdeka on Friday (2/16/2024). Moreover, he acknowledged that there are contents with the narration of dissatisfaction with the current election. He reminds them that the government has prepared mechanism to report election violations, and if they have the proof of it, they can report it. “We implore public to remain calm, do not be easily provoked by hoax contents that might not be true. If you have any issues with this election, you can report it through applicable mechanism,” conclude Satake. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
