Police Intensify Patrol in Anticipating Brawls ahead Ramadan

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has issued a clarification regarding a video of a brawl in the Bekasi area that has gone viral on social media. 

The incident was confirmed to be an old incident that occurred on Sunday (1/18/2026) at around 4:00 a.m. in front of the Bekasi Creative Center building in Bekasi City.

The Head of the Public Information Sub-Division of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Police Assistant Superintendent Andaru Rahutomo, explained that the brawl involved two groups of teenagers and resulted in one fatality. The victim, identified as TRB (21), was pronounced dead due to serious injuries to his thigh and waist.

"The brawl occurred in the early hours of January 18, around 4:00 a.m., in front of the Bekasi Creative Center. During the incident, one victim, identified as TRB, aged 21, died from injuries to his thigh and waist," said Andaru in an official statement on Friday (1/30/2026).

Regarding case handling, he explained that the police had taken swift action by apprehending one perpetrator with the initials TFA on January 19, 2026. Subsequently, the police apprehended another perpetrator, a child in conflict with the law (ABH).

Both perpetrators were charged under Article 262 paragraph (4) of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.

Andaru further emphasized that youth brawls were one of the primary targets of Operation Pekat Jaya 2026, which was carried out by the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police for 15 days, from January 28 to February 11, 2026. 

This operation targeted various forms of social ills, such as brawls, street crime, drug and alcohol distribution, and other potential disturbances to public order and security.

In addition to law enforcement, the police also prioritized preventative measures through joint patrols.
